Web Hosting Trade Show, ISPCON 2005, Is a Success

ISPCON 2005 has concluded, and the web hosting community was well served by this show that encompassed a variety of Internet services and companies.

One of the final sessions applicable to web hosting was an excellent presentation by Mr. Lou Honick, CEO of HostMySite.com entitled, High Quality Customer Service for Web Hosts and ISPs. Mr. Honick revealed several important aspects of great customer service, including the fact that management must be fully committed and demonstrate excellent service in order for the message to penetrate downward into the fabric of a company.

Mr. Honick discussed his definition of great customer service: ''Responding promptly and accurately to customer requests in such a way that each customer feels valued, respected, and understood.''

He went on to outline and describe the six pillars of great customer service:

Compassion;
Credibility
Exceeding Expectations
Never Saying No
Ownership
Respect

The presentation concluded by describing the rewards of great customer service. Judging by the question and answer session that followed (with many attendees foregoing the free food and drinks directly outside the door) the presentation was a tremendous help to many entrepreneurs who wish to emulate HostMySite.com's success.

Show organizer and Managing Director of ISPCON, Mr. Jon Price, summarized ISPCON 2005 as follows, ''There is clearly a Renaissance in Internet services - everyone is beginning to pay attention to this market space again. ISPCON is about all the Internet based businesses, and the exhibit hall has grown considerably this year. Web hosting companies are talking to people here who are actually buying things! It's a great success.''
